The Ryder Cup is a three day team event that begins on Friday. The first two days of the event feature 4 foursomes matches and 4 fourball matches. Sunday features 12 singles matches. Each match is worth one point. If a match is halved, each team gets ½ a point. The U.S. must get 14.5 points to win the Ryder Cup while Europe needs just 14 points to retain the championship. This year’s event is being held from Medinah Country Club in Illinois.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, the score that is favored to be the final total is the U.S. with 14.5 and Europe with 13.5. There are a lot of options, including a 14-14 tie, which has 10/1 odds to win.
Twice in the history of the Ryder Cup has there been a tie. The 2010 Ryder Cup saw Europe win 14.5-13.5. That score has odds of 10/1 to happen this year. In 2008, the United States won the Ryder Cup by a score of 16.5-11.5. That score has odds of 18/1 of happening this year.
Europe has won six of the last eight Ryder Cup events. The two that the U.S. won were both in America.
