HONOLULU, HI (TheSpread) – The 2012 PGA Tour is back in full swing and this week the golfers compete in the Sony Open from Waialae Golf Course in Honolulu.

Oddsmakers have made Steve Stricker the favorite to win this tournament, as he has 8/1 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Webb Simpson (11/1), K.J. Choi (16/1), and Zach Johnson (16/1).

Stricker is fifth in the world rankings and coming off a win last week in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii. Stricker has finished in the top 16 of his last three tournaments and he finished ninth in this event last year.

Simpson had a great 2011 season, moving up to seventh in the world rankings. He finished in the top 15 in eight of his last nine tournaments with two victories in that stretch. Simpson finished 46^th in this tournament last year.

Choi won this tournament back in 2008. Choi is currently 14^th in the world rankings. He finished last season strong and has finished 16^th or better in his last seven tournaments. Choi did miss the cut of last year’s tournament.

Johnson won this event in 2009. He is 42^nd in the world rankings and coming off a runner-up finished in the Chevron World Challenge to end his 2011 season. Johnson has just one top 10 in his last six events.

The 2012 Sony Open is played at Waialae Golf Course in Honolulu, Hawaii and will start on Thursday, Jan. 12 and conclude on Sunday, Jan. 15.
