Watney wins The Barclays
FARMINGDALE, NY (TheSpread) – Nick Watney jumped out to the lead in the FedEx Cup Playoffs after winning the 2012 Barclays on Sunday.
Watney entered Sunday’s final round two shots out of the lead, but posted a 2-under 69 while third-round leader Sergio Garcia shot a 4-over 75. Watney finished -10 for the tournament to win by three over Brandt Snedeker, while Garcia was third at -6 overall.
According to oddsmakers, Watney had 66/1 odds to win this tournament, meaning a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $6,600.
The win puts Watney in the lead in the FedEx Cup standings by more than 500 points over Snedeker, while Tiger Woods is now in third after finishing this tournament at +1 overall, in a tie for 38th.
