U.S. Open Odds
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (TheSpread) – The second major championship of the year will be contested this week as the 2012 U.S. Open begins play on Thursday. Here is a look at the odds for this event.

According to oddsmakers, Tiger Woods is the favorite to win his first major since 2008, as he has been given 6/1 odds to win the U.S. Open. Other short odds to win are Rory McIlroy (10/1), Luke Donald (12/1), and Lee Westwood (12/1).
Woods is fourth in the world rankings and coming off a win in his last tournament. Woods has won the U.S. Open three times and has a total of 14 major championships in his career. His last major victory was the 2008 U.S. Open. He has finished in the top 10 in eight of his last 12 U.S. Opens.
McIlroy is the defending U.S. Open champion and he is second in the world rankings. Last year’s U.S. Open was McIlroy’s first major championship. He has placed in the top 10 of the U.S. Open in two of his three appearances.
Donald is No. 1 in the world rankings. He has never won a major championship and never finished in the top 10 of a U.S. Open. His best finish at this event was 12th back in 2006. He has placed outside the top 40 in his last five U.S. Opens.
Westwood is third in the world rankings. He has never won a major championship in his career, but has performed well in the U.S. Open as of late. He has finished third in two of the last four and has placed in the top 11 in seven of the last eight major championships.
The U.S. Open begins on Thursday, June 14 and will run through Sunday, June 17 from the Olympic Club-Lake Course in San Francisco, California. For complete odds for each golfer to win the U.S. Open, see below.
