Stanley rallies to win Phoenix Open
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (TheSpread) – It took an amazing Sunday, but Kyle Stanley found a way to win the Waste Management Phoenix Open by shooting a 6-under 65 in the final round.
Stanley trailed leader Spencer Levin by 10 shots entering the final round of the tournament, but a 6-under 65 combined with a 4-over 75 for Levin allowed him to win the tournament at 15-under par, one shot ahead of Ben Crane.
Stanley came into the tournament with 50/1 odds to win, which means a wager of $100 on Stanley will pay out an additional $5,000.
Crane nearly achieved Stanley’s feet as well, as he shot a 5-under 66 on Sunday to finish at 14-under for the tournament. Levin ended up in sole possession of third place at 13-under for the tournament.
Another big name that was in the hunt to win was Bubba Watson, who entered Sunday at 10-under par, but he shot a 1-under 70 on Sunday to finish tied for fifth place.
