Accenture Match Play Odds
MARANA, AZ (TheSpread) – It’s not a major, but the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship is one of the toughest events to win. Here is a look at the odds for this year’s tournament.

Each year, the top 64 golfers in the world are placed into a single-elimination match-play bracket. This year’s tournament takes place from the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Arizona. Play begins on Wednesday, Feb. 22 and concludes on Sunday, Feb. 26 with a 36-hole match play event. All other rounds are 18-hole matchups.
According to oddsmakers, Rory McIlroy is the favorite to win this event, as he has been given 12/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Tiger Woods (13/1), Luke Donald (16/1), and Lee Westwood (18/1).
McIlroy is the top seed in the Gary Player bracket. He is currently second in the world rankings has he has finished in the top 5 in eight of his last nine events. McIlroy reached the second round of last year’s tournament before bowing out. He has never won this tournament.
Woods is the No. 5 seed in the Sam Snead bracket. He is the lone favorite not to have a top seed. Woods is 20th in the world rankings, but he has finished third or better in three of his last four tournaments. Woods lost in the opening round of last year’s tournament. Woods is a three-time winner of this tournament.
Donald is the top-ranked golfer in the world and the No. 1 seed in the Bobby Jones bracket. Donald has struggled as of late, finishing outside the top 45 in his last two tournaments. Donald is the defending champion of this tournament.
Westwood is the top seed in the Sam Snead bracket. Westwood is third in the current world rankings. He has placed in the top 17 in six of his last seven outings, which includes two victories. Westwood lost in the second round of last year’s tournament. Westwood has never won this event.
