Bradley slips past Furyk
AKRON, OH (TheSpread) – It came down to the final putt, but Keegan Bradley ran past Jim Furyk to win the 2012 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday.
Bradley entered the day, four shots behind Furyk, but a 6-under 64 on Sunday allowed him to get past Furyk, who shot a 1-under 69 after making double bogey on the 72nd hole. Furyk actually led the entire tournament until the final hole. Bradley finished -13 overall while Furyk was -12.
According to oddsmakers, Bradley had 60/1 odds to win this event, which means a $100 wager on him to win will pay out an additional $6,000.
Bradley was in danger of making bogey on the final hole, but nailed a 15-foot but for par that kept Steve Stricker from possibly making it into a playoff. Stricker also finished -12 overall to tie Furyk.
Tiger Woods had a quiet weekend, but posted a 4-under 66 on Sunday to finish -4 overall and in a tie for eighth place.
