EAST LOTHIAN, Scotland (TheSpread) – The third major of the year takes place this week. Here is a look at the odds to win the 2013 British Open.

According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Tiger Woods is the favorite to win this major, as he has 8/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Adam Scott, Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy, who each have 18/1 odds.

Woods is No. 1 in the world golf rankings. He is a 14-time major champion and a three-time winner of The Open Championship, but he has not won a major since 2008 and he has just one top 10 in the British Open since 2006.

McIlroy is No. 2 in the world rankings. He has won two major championships in his career, but has just one top-10 finish in the British Open over five appearances. He finished 60^th in last year’s tournament.

Justin Rose is third in the world rankings and coming off a win at the U.S. Open. That was Rose’s first major championship. He has struggled in this event, finishing fourth in 1998 as an amateur, but not finishing in the top 10 since. He has missed the cut in the two of his last three British Open appearances.

Adam Scott is fourth in the world rankings. Scott won the 2013 Masters, which was his first major championship. He looked to be set to win this event last year, but let a four-shot lead slip away, and he finished second. He has two top 10s in 13 British Open appearances.
