British Open Picks
EAST LOTHIAN, Scotland (TheSpread) – The 2013 British Open gets underway early Thursday morning. Here is a look at some golfers to consider for this weekend’s event.
With this being the third major of the season, the field will be ultra competitive. Here are some names to consider placing your money on, with the odds according to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv
Adam Scott 18/1
Scott is coming off a runner-up finish in last year’s British Open and he placed 25th in the 2011 event. Scott has been as strong as anyone in majors since 2011, placing in the top 11 in six of the 10 tournaments. Scott won his first major in the 2013 Masters, and you can be he is motivated to avenge his near victory in this tournament a year ago.
Sergio Garcia 25/1
It’s been a rough few months for the Spaniard, but that can all go away with a strong showing this weekend. Of all the majors, Garcia has fared best at the British Open. He has seven top 10s at The Open Championship in his last 13 appearances. Garcia’s game should shape up well for Muirfield Golf Links. Look for him to be in the mix.
Jason Dufner 55/1
Dufner has some long odds at 55/1, but he has been steady in major championships, placing 31st or better in his last seven, with three top-5 finishes. He is coming off a fourth-place finish in the U.S. Open last month, and his steady style should allow him to compete for the title this weekend.
