Brian Gay wins in playoff
LA QUINTA, CA (TheSpread) – It took a few extra holes, but Brian Gay managed to pick up the win in the 2013 Huamana Challenge on Sunday.
Gay won a three-man playoff, besting Charles Howell III and David Lingmerth to come away with the victory. All three had solid final rounds. Gay shot a 9-under 63 to finish at -25, while Howell shot a 64 on Sunday and Lingmerth had a 62.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Gay had 50/1 odds to win this event, which means that a $100 wager on him to win will pay out an additional $5,000.
These three wouldn’t have had a shot to win had Scott Stallings not struggled on Sunday. The final-round leader was up by as many as five shots, but finished with a 2-under 70 on Sunday to finish a shot out of the playoff.
