This tournament is played at Congressional and hosted by Tiger Woods, who is out with an elbow injury this week. That leaves a solid field led by Masters champ Adam Scott, Jason Day and Hunter Mahan. The course is a tough one as last year’s winning score (8 under) was the highest in the history of the tournament. Finding greens in regulation is a tall order as the field average was 59 percent last year. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Scott and Rose are co-favorites at 14/1 odds, respectively, to win this weekend’s event.
Billy Horschel 25-1
Horschel played well in the final round of the U.S. Open and ended up finishing T4. He can really drive the ball and his nearly 68 percent of greens in regulation should be perfect for this course. He has eight top-25s, seven top-10s, a third, second and his first win at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Rickie Fowler 28-1
Another colorful player, he finished off last week’s Travelers Championship with a final-round 64. He hits the ball straight (64 percent of fairways). He has made 13 of 15 cuts with six top-25s, four top-10s and a third-place finish. He played Congressional when the U.S. Open was there. Could finally be his time.
Longshot:
David Hearn 100-1
Hearn finished T18 at Memphis and T21 at Merion after sharing 21st place at Memorial. He sits 23rd in stroke gained-putting and T10 in par-4 scoring.
