Duke wins in a playoff
CROMWELL, CT (TheSpread) – Ken Duke almost had his first career PGA win taken from him, but he ended up winning the Travelers Championship in a playoff win over Chris Stroud.
Duke posted an impressive 4-under 66 on Sunday to get to -12 overall. He had a one-shot lead on Stroud when Stroud missed the 18th green. But, the young golfer chipped in to force a playoff with Duke. In the playoff, the two pared the opening hole and then Duke birdied the final playoff hole with a beautiful approach shot, giving him the victory.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Duke had 150/1 odds to win this race, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $15,000.
Bubba Watson was in contention to win this tournament, but he posted a triple bogey on the par-3 16th, which led him to finishing fourth at -10 overall.
