Presidents Cup Odds
DUBLIN, OH (TheSpread) – The 2013 Presidents Cup is set to take place this week. Here is a look at the odds to win this team event.
This event is similar to the Ryder Cup but features Team USA vs. the International Team. Each team is composed of 12 golfers and the event is played over four days instead of three in the Ryder Cup. Thursday features six foursomes matches between. Friday has six four-ball matches. Saturday has five foursomes and five four-ball matches. Sunday’s final day features 12 match-play contests. Each match is worth one point and matches can end with a tie, giving each team ½ a point. The team with the most points at the end of the event is the winner. According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, the United States is the favorite to win, as they have odds of -300 to prevail. The International team has a money line of +250 to win, while a tie has odds of +1400 to take place.
Team USA is captained by Fred Couples and features a roster of Tiger Woods, Brandt Snedeker, Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Jason Dufner, Keegan Bradley, Steve Stricker, Bill Haas, Hunter Mahan, Zach Johnson, Webb Simpson and Jordan Spieth.
The International Team can take all non-European players. Nick Price is the captain and his roster includes Adam Scott, Jason Day, Charl Schwartzel, Ernie Els, Louis Oosthuizen, Hideki Matsuyama, Branden Grace, Graham DeLaet, Richard Sterne, Angel Cabrera, Marc Leishman and Brendon de Jonge.
This event has taken place nine times previously, starting in 1994. The United States has won seven times while the International team has prevailed once, and there was a tie in 2003. The International team hasn’t won since 1998.
