After the British Open, the field isn’t quite as strong as last week but it’s very good. The Jack Nicklaus designed course includes nine of the top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings. This is the first time the Canadian Open has been played at Glen Abbey since 2009. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Brandt Snedeker opened as a 12/1 favorite win this weekend’s PGA event.
Mahan tied for fourth in 2004 at Glen Abbey and is coming off a T-9 at the Open. He also tied for fourth at the U.S. Open so he’s playing well. He’s one of the best pure drivers on the tour and is a player who hits enough greens in regulation (68 percent).
Els didn’t win back-to-back British Open, but he does have four top-six finishes in his last eight starts. He’s not quite as accurate and still hits the ball a long way, but considering this field, he has a shot to win this.
Longshot:
Wilson has missed his last two cuts, but he’s well-suited to play well here. He ranks eight in the PGA Tour in driving accuracy. He needs to play well to secure his playoff status.
