OAKVILLE, ONTARIO (The Spread) – Brandt Snedeker took home his second victory of the 2013 PGA season with a win Sunday at the RBC Canadian Open.
Snedeker compiled a 2-under-par 34-36=70 in the final round at Glen Abbey to post a 16-under 272 for the victory. He didn’t dominate the field this weekend, but he did enough to secure the victory. His day on Sunday included four birdies to just two bogeys, with the second bogey coming at a pivotal point in the round.
After hitting a slice off the tee at the par-3 12th (into some heavy brush, nonetheless), Snedeker saved bogey on the hole. And while Dustin Johnson caught him for the lead a few holes later, Snedeker racked up a triple bogey at the par-4 17th to reclaim the lead. He then picked up his final birdie at the par-5 16th and parred his final two holes to wrap up the day.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Snedeker opened as a 12/1 favorite to win the RBC Canadian Open. Hunter Mahan and Matt Kuchar were both 18/1, respectively, while Charl Schwartzel and Luke Donald opened with 20/1 odds, respectively. Johnson was also 22/1.
While Snedeker finished 16-under-par, Johnson tied with Kuchar, William McGirt and Jason Bohn for second at 13-under. Roberto Castro, John Merrick and Mark Wilson all finished 12-under, respectively, while Aaron Baddeley, Jim Furyk and Patrick Reed finished 11-under.
