Scott wins The Masters
AUGUSTA, GA (TheSpread) – Adam Scott became the first Australian to win The Masters on Sunday, as he beat out Angel Cabrera in a playoff to claim his first major championship.
Scott came into the day in third place, but shot a 3-under 69 on Sunday to get to -9 overall, including a clutch birdie on the 18th hole. Cabrera, who started the day tied for the lead, posted a 70 on Sunday to finish -9 overall. He also hit a clutch birdie on the final hole, forcing a playoff between he and Scott.
The two tied on the opening playoff hole and then on the second playoff hole, No. 10, Scott nailed a lengthy birdie putt to claim the championship.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Scott had 28/1 odds to win this tournament, which means a wager of $100 on him to win will pay out an additional $2,800.
Jason Day looked like he might win at one point, as he had a two-shot lead on the back nine, but he finished at -7 overall after shooting a 70 on Sunday. Tiger Woods finished in a tie for fourth, shooting a 70 on Sunday to finish the tournament at -5 overall.
