The Masters Odds
AUGUSTA, GA (TheSpread) – The best golfers in the world compete for the green jacket this week as the 2013 Masters begins play on Thursday. Here is a look at the odds to win this major.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Tiger Woods is the clear favorite to win, as he has 3/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Rory McIlroy (8/1), Phil Mickelson (10/1) and Justin Rose (20/1).
Woods is ranked No. 1 in the world rankings, and he has won three of his last five events. Woods is a four-time Masters winner, with his last victory coming in 2005. He has placed sixth or better in this event in seven of the last eight years.
McIlroy is No. 2 in the world rankings. He has placed in the top 10 in two of his last three tournaments. McIlroy has never won this event, but he does own two major championships. He has also failed to place in the top 10 of the Masters in any year.
Mickelson is ninth in the world rankings. He has placed in the top 10 in two of his last six events, including one victory. Mickelson is a three-time Masters champion, last winning in 2010. He has placed in the top five of this event in four of the last five years.
Rose is third in the world rankings and he has placed in the top 10 of his last three events. Rose has never won the Masters or a major championship. He has placed 11th or better in three of the last six years of the Masters.
