Masters Odds – Top American
AUGUSTA, GA (TheSpread) – The American golfers have done well in the The Masters in recent history. Who will be the top American in this year’s first major?
An American has won six of the last nine Masters golf tournaments. According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Tiger Woods is favored to be the top American this week, as he has 7/4 odds. Other short odds are Phil Mickelson (11/2) and Keegan Bradley (12/1).
Woods is ranked No. 1 in the world rankings, and he has won three of his last five events. Woods is a four-time Masters winner, with his last victory coming in 2005. He has placed sixth or better in this event in seven of the last eight years. Woods placed 40th in last year’s Masters, his worst showing since he missed the cut in 1996. Woods has not won a major since the 2008 U.S. Open.
Mickelson is ninth in the world rankings. He has placed in the top 10 in two of his last six events, including one victory. Mickelson is a three-time Masters champion, last winning in 2010. He has placed in the top five of this event in four of the last five years, including a third-place finish last year. His 2010 Masters win was his last major championship.
Bradley is 11th in the world rankings. He has placed 10th or better in his last four events. Bradley has only played in the Masters once, placing 27th last year. He has one major championship win, the 2011 PGA Championship. He has placed in the top 5 in two of his five major appearances.
