Justin Rose wins U.S. Open
ARDMORE, PA (TheSpread) – Justin Rose broke through and won his first major championship on Sunday, as he won the 2013 U.S. Open.
In a round that saw a number of players look as if they were going to pull away, only to fall apart, Rose played steady, finishing with an even-par 70. Rose finished +1 for the tournament, two shots ahead of Jason Day and Phil Mickelson, who each went 3-over for the tournament.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Rose had 25/1 odds to win this event coming into the week, which means a wager of $100 on him to prevail will pay out an additional $2,500.
Mickelson had a shot to force a playoff, but it was a tough chip that ran long of the hole on 18. He did land in an eagle on the par-4 10th, but it wasn’t enough to get the victory.
Tiger Woods ended up +13 for the tournament, which put him in a tie for 32nd place.
