WGC Bridgeston Invitational Picks
AKRON, OH (ATS Consultants) – The PGA Tourheads tothe Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio for the WGC Bridgestone Invitational.
The course is a 7,400-yard par 70 and it’s favored by long hitters. But in the past, players who are not as long off the tee have done well. Most of the big guys are here including Tiger Woods, who is the favorite according to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, and has won seven times at Firestone. Phil Mickelson is the second-favorite, playing in his first tournament sinc winning the British Open.
The lefty has a game well-suited for this course. He has a disappointing season but is playing better as of late. He recorded a 4th place a month ago at the Travelers after looking like he was in control. Then came the infamous outburst at his caddie. He’s overdue.
The Swede is still looking for his first win in 2013. He does have three second-place finishes this year including one at the British Open. His best showing here was a tie for 13 in 2005. He should easily make the top 10 in a tough field.
Longshot:
Casey has a win at the Irish Open and has been playing well on the European Tour. He wasn’t eligible for the British Open but a win here could get him back on track.
