HOYLAKE, England (TheSpread) – Tiger Woods is competing in his first major championship of 2014. Will he be able to contend, or will he struggle?
Woods has been dealing with a back injury that has forced him to miss the first two majors. He returned to action a few weeks ago in the Quicken Loans National, but missed the cut. According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Woods has been given odds of -300 to make the cut this week and odds of +175 to finish in the top 10,
Woods has only missed one cut in his British Open history, which came back in 2009. He has appeared in this event 17 times in his career. When it comes to all majors, he has missed the cut just four times since 1995.
Woods has always been competitive in the British Open. He is a three-time winner and he has finished in the top 10 in nine of his 17 appearances at the event. He has finished sixth or better the last two years, but has only been in the top 10 in three of his last nine major championship events. Woods is looking to win his first major since 2008. He has a total of 14 major titles to his credit.
