LOUISVILLE, KY (ATSConsultants) – The 2014 PGA Championship gets underway on Thursday morning. Here are some golfer you should consider wagering on.
According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Rory McIlroy is the favorite to win this event, as he has 5/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Adam Scott (12/1) and Justin Rose (16/1).
Here are some golfers we like to contend for the title this weekend:
McIlroy is hard to bet against right now. He is clearly in another dimension when it comes to his play, winning the British Open and WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in his last two events. He is also a former PGA Championship winner and has placed in the top 10 in four of the five PGA Championships he has played in. It is easy to see why McIlroy is the clear favorite.
Fowler is a fan favorite that is quickly turning into a major contender. Nobody has played collectively better in the three majors this year than Fowler. He was fifth in the Masters and second in both the U.S. Open and British Open. He currently has placed in the top 10 in his last four events, making him a strong contender to claim the trophy on Sunday.
Live Long Shot
Poulter sits inside the top 30 in the world rankings, but his recent play has pushed his odds to 100/1 this weekend. However, Poulter typically steps up in the majors. He has placed in the top 25 in four of his last six and seven of his last 10 majors. He was third in the PGA Championship in 2012 and is desperately seeking his first major title. Look for Poulter to make a push this weekend and possibly score you a big payday.
