Kirk wins Deutsche Bank title
NORTON, MA (TheSpread) – Chris Kirk got the biggest win of his PGA career on Monday, as he prevailed as the winner of the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Kirk carded a 5-under 66 on Sunday, giving him a third straight round of 66 or better. That put him at -15 for the tournament, which was two shots better than Geoff Ogilvy, Russell Henley and Billy Horschel for first.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Kirk came into this tournament with 125/1 odds to win the event, which means a wager of $100 on him to prevail will pay out an additional $12,500.
Henley was one of the leaders entering the day but shot an even-par 70 to finish at -13. Horschel had a chance to match Kirk, but took a penalty shot on the 18th hole and pushing him back to -13. Rory McIlroy finished the tournament in fifth place at -11 after shooting a 70 on Monday.
