John Deere Classic Picks
SILVIS, IL (TheSpread) – The 2014 John Deere Classic begins play on Thursday. Here are a few picks to consider for this golf tournament.
According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Jordan Spieth is favored to win this event, as he has 9/1 odds while Steve Stricker and Zach Johnson each have 12/1 odds.
Here are some golfers to consider wagering on:
Spieth is the defending champion of this event and he comes into this event as one of the top-ranked golfers competing. With the British Open next weekend, this field is somewhat weak, which opens the door for a consistent player like Spieth. Look for him to have a strong outing prior to next week’s major.
Johnson has fared well at this event, winning in 2012 and finishing second last year. Last year Johnson came up short due to a playoff, but was in command late on Sunday. Johnson has plenty of success at this track and he is due for a strong showing. He hasn’t had a top 10 in a few months and that isn’t like Johnson to go this long without contending for a win.
De Jonge is someone familiar with this course, competing in this event last year, and he has had a consistent string of making cuts, hitting his last nine. When looking for a big cash in, it is wise to take someone like De Jonge that is a safe bet to make the cut and then can contend on the weekend. De Jonge has two top 10s in his last nine events and is capable of stringing together four strong rounds this weekend to win.
