Matt Jones wins with chip in
HUMBLE, TX (TheSpread) – Matt Jones won the Shell Houston Open in style on Sunday, chipping in to claim a playoff win over Matt Kuchar.
Jones posted an impressive 6-under 66 on Sunday to get to -15 for the tournament, which tied him with Kuchar, who shot a 72 on Sunday. On the deciding playoff hole, Jones knocked one in from off the green to claimed the tour victory.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Jones was a long shot to win, as he had 100/1 odds to win. This means a $100 wager on Jones to win will pay out an additional $10,000.
Sergio Garcia came in third in the tournament, finishing at -13 overall after shooting a 2-under 70 on Sunday. Rory McIlroy posted an impressive 7-under 65 on Sunday to get to -8 overall and finish in a tie for seventh place.
