The Barclays Free Picks
PARAMUS, NJ (ATSConsultants) – The 2014 Barclays gets underway on Thursday morning. Here are a few golfers to consider for this event.
According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Rory McIlroy is the clear favorite to win this event, as he has 4/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Adam Scott (14/1) and Henrik Stenson (16/1).
Here are some golfers we like to contend for the title this weekend:
Garcia is a two-time winner of this tournament. He has had a strong year and currently finds himself fourth in the world rankings. He has placed second in three of his last five tournaments and due to get that victory. He has the confidence to win, as he has played well in recent majors and WGC events. Look for Garcia to push McIlroy this weekend.
Watney won this tournament back in 2012, which was his last victory. This year started out slow for Watney, but he seems to have found his stroke over the last month. He has placed 12th or better in three of his last four events, including a fifth-place finish last weekend. Watney should feel good returning to a place he has won before and this could be the weekend he provides a big payout.
Live Long Shot
Na has been a steady player this year and he comes into this tournament having made six straight cuts prior to the PGA Championship. He has four top 10s in 2014 with a pair of runner-up finishes. Not playing in this event last year has seemed to spark his 2014 season, where he has climbed to 38th in the world rankings. Look for Na to play spirited golf and contend for the win, which wouldn’t be as surprising as his odds may indicate.
