Matsuyama wins in playoff
DUBLIN, OH (TheSpread) – Hideki Matsuyama needed an extra hole, but he found a way to win The Memorial Tournament on Sunday in a playoff.
Matsuyama shot a 3-under 69 on Sunday to finish at -13 overall, which put him in a tie with Kevin Na. Na shot an impressive 64 on Sunday to get to the top of the leaderboard. Matsuyama birdied the final hole to get to the playoff and then won the first playoff hole with a par.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Matsuyama had 66/1 odds to win this weekend’s event, which means a $100 wager on him to prevail will pay out an additional $6,600.
Bubba Watson had a shot to win as well, but came up with an even-par 72 on Sunday to finish at -12 for the tournament and in third place. Chris Kirk and Adam Scott finished in a tie for fourth at -10 overall.
