Kaymer wins THE PLAYERS
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL (TheSpread) – Martin Kaymer held off a strong field to win the 2014 PLAYERS Championship by one shot.
Kaymer dealt with a weather delay but still shot a 1-under 71 on Sunday to finish at -13 for the tournament, 1 shot ahead of Jim Furyk, who finished at -12 overall after posting a 6-under 66 on Sunday.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Kaymer had 80/1 odds to win this weekend’s event, which means a $100 wager on him to prevail will pay out an additional $8,000.
Sergio Garcia shot a 2-under 70 on Sunday to finish at -11 overall and in third while Justin Rose and Jordan Spieth were both -10 for the tournament. Spieth shot a 2-over 74 in the final round.
