Horschel wins FedEx Cup
ATLANTA, GA (TheSpread) – Billy Horschel completed a fantastic run in the FedEx Cup Playoffs on Sunday by winning The Tour Championship, and thus earning the FedEx Cup.
Horschel started the day tied with Rory McIlroy for the lead in this event, but McIlroy posted a 1-over, 71 today, finishing at -8 for the tournament. Horschel carded a 2-under 68 to finish at -11 overall, three shots ahead of McIlroy and Jim Furyk.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Horschel came into this tournament with 20/1 odds to win the event, which means a wager of $100 on him to prevail will pay out an additional $2,000. Horschel came into the FedEx Cup playoffs with 150/1 odds to win the whole thing, which means he will pay out $15,000 on a $100 wager.
Horschle missed the cut of The Barclays to start the playoffs, but then finished second in the Deutsche Bank Championship and then won the BMW Championship. Horschel won the point standings by 1,650 points overall Chris Kirk, who finished tied for fourth this weekend.
