Valero Texas Open Picks
SAN ANTONIO, TX (ATS CONSULTANTS) – The PGA Valero Texas Open gets started Thursday morning. Here are a few golfers to consider for this event.
According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Matt Kuchar, Phil Mickelson and Zach Johnson are all the favorites to win, as each has been given 16/1 odds.
Here are our predictions for this weekend’s tournament.
Johnson is a two-time winner of this tournament and had great success at AT&T Oaks Course for a number of years now. He has already earned a win in 2014 and another pair of top 10s. Despite a little bit of a step back over recent weeks, Johnson is due to get back into contention this weekend, especially at an event that he has won at before.
Walker comes into this tournament 27th in the world rankings and he has two victories to his credit this year along with four other top-25 finishes. His only other outing was a missed cut, but that appears to be the abnormality and not the trend. It’s hard to say anyone has been stronger than Walker this year and it’s a wise move to put money on him right now.
Perez is 104th in the world rankings, but he is quickly climbing up the rankings as he has yet to miss a cut in 2014. He also has three top 10s and an 11th-place finish this year. Making the cut is the big key when dealing with a long shot. Perez has been steady enough to make cuts and has proven he can find his way to the top of the leaderboard as well.
