Day wins Match Play title
MARANA, AZ (TheSpread) – The WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship concluded Sunday, with one of the favorites beating a longshot for the title.
As always, this event featured plenty of upsets during the week. But, in the end, it was Jason Day that found himself as the winner, beating Victor Dubuisson after 23 holes.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Day was one of the favorites to win it all, as he had 18/1 odds. This means that a wager of $100 on Day to win will pay out an additional $1,800.
Dubuisson came in with 100/1 odds to win this tournament, but the 7th seed made a great run through the week and made a tough comeback to force five playoff holes with Day.
In the third-place match 14th-seeded Rickie Fowler defeated 8th-seeded Ernie Els in 19 holes. Fowler and Els each had 80/1 odds to win this event.
