The PLAYERS Championship Picks
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL (ATSConsultants) – Golf’s “fifth major” gets started today as the PGA PLAYERS Championship tees off. Here are some golfers we like for this weekend.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Rory McIlroy is the current favorite to win this tournament, as he has 7/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Jordan Spieth (15/2) and Justin Rose (18/1).
Jason Day comes into this tournament with 25/1 odds. Though he is coming off a rough showing at the Match Play Championship last weekend, Day has had a strong 2015 thus far, with one win and four top 5s. He was unable to play in this event a year ago, but finished 19th in 2013. We like Day to be right in the mix come Sunday.
Adam Scott is a former winner of this event and he has 40/1 odds this weekend. Scott has had a rough last few months as his putting has been an issue, but we think this is a bounce back weekend for him. He was also in the top 20 of this event two years ago and if he can find his putting stroke, he is likely to earn you a big payday.
Michael Thompson is a longshot at 350/1 to win this weekend. While his chances may be slim, this is an event he has appeared in the last few years, so there is some familiarity there. He has made the cut in three of his last four events, which gives him a chance at surprising the field.
