The golf world gets back to a team format this week as the Presidents Cup takes place in Korea. Here is a look at the odds for this event.
The Presidents Cup is a four-day event involving 12 American players and 12 players on the International team, which includes a team of players that are from anywhere except from America or Europe. The teams will compete in foursome and fourball matches through the first three days and then have 12 individual match-play contests. The team earning more points will be victorious.
According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, the United States is favored to win this week, as it has odds of -210 to win, while the International Team has odds of +210 to win. The odds of a tie are set at +1400. The Presidents Cup takes place October 8-11 from Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon, South Korea.
The International team is captained by Nick Price. Players on the squad are Jason Day, Louis Oosthuizen, Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama, Branden Grace, Mar Leishman, Anirban Lahiri, Charl Schwartzel, Thongchai Jaidee, Danny Lee, Steven Bowditch and Sang-Moon Bae.
The United States team is captained by Jay Haas. His team consists of Jordan Spieth, Bubba Watson, Jimmy Walker, Zach Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Matt Kuchar, Chris Kirk, Bill Haas, J.B. Holmes and Phil Mickelson.
The United States has won five straight Presidents Cup coming into this event and their record in its history is 8-1-1. The lone International win came in 1998, when the U.S. lost 20.5-11.5. A tie of 17-17 took place in 2003.
