U.S. Open Championship Picks
UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA (ATSConsultants) – The 2015 U.S. Open Championship gets underway this morning on the West Coast. Here are some golfers we think you should consider wagering on.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Rory McIlroy is favored to win this major, as he has 7/1 odds this weekend. Other short odds to win are Jordan Spieth (8/1) and Dustin Johnson (16/1). The U.S. Open takes place today-Sunday from Chambers Bay in Washington.
Justin Rose comes into this year’s U.S. Open with 18/1 odds. He was the 2013 U.S. Open champion and he finished 12th a year ago. He has placed 25th or better in five straight majors and has three top-2 finishes in 2015 already. Look for Rose to be in the mix come Sunday.
Phil Mickelson also has 18/1 odds for the weekend. This is the lone major Mickelson has yet to win, so he comes in with plenty of motivation. He has finished second in the U.S. Open on six different occasions and he has finished second in the last two majors. Look for Mickelson to make another run at the title this weekend.
Charley Hoffman is a long shot to win at 125/1, but we think he has some value with the long odds. He is coming off a ninth-place finish at the Masters after leading most of the weekend. He has followed that up with strong outings since, taking 10th at the Crowne Plaza Invite and second at the AT&T Byron Nelson. We think Hoffman’s consistency in 2015 will continue this weekend and we won’t be surprised if he wins his first major.
