He has placed in the top 10 in six of the nine tournaments he has competed in this year and he reached the quarterfinals in his debut in this event last year. Look for Spieth to make a run at the title.
Jason Day is another strong play for the weekend. He is the defending champion and he placed third in 2013. Day already has a win this year and four top 5s and seems to be playing at a high level. Match play seems to be comfortable for him, so look at him to be strong again this year.
Hunter Mahan is a dark horse to consider with his 40/1 odds. He is a former winner of this event (2012) and he also placed second in 2013. He has reached the round of 16 in the last four years of this event. Mahan is coming off a ninth-place finish at the Masters, so he appears to be in an upswing right now. Look for him to contend this weekend.
