Rickie Fowler British Open Odds
FIFE, Scotland (TheSpread) – After a win last week on a links course, is Rickie Fowler ready to claim his first major championship at this weekend’s British Open?
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Fowler is currently listed with 16/1 odds to win The Open Championship. He is getting 7/2 odds to finish in the top 5, 3/2 odds to finish in the top 10 and odds of -165 to finish in the top 20. His odds to make the cut have been set at -550.
Fowler currently sits fifth in the world rankings of golf following his win in the Scottish Open last weekend. The win was a needed one for Fowler, who had missed the cut in his last two events, including the U.S. Open. Fowler has two wins this year, as he also claimed THE PLAYERS Championship earlier in the season. Of the 15 events he has played in, he has missed the cut three times.
It’s hard to argue that anybody had a better showing in the majors of 2014 than Fowler. While McIlroy did win two titles, McIlroy finished in the top 5 of each of the four events and finished second in two of them. He has now appeared in a total of 22 major championships and finished in the top 10 in six of them, but five have come in his last nine outings. This year, he finished 12th at the Masters, but then missed the cut at the U.S. Open. He has missed the cut five times at majors, including once in the British Open. However, he was second in this event last year and also finished fifth in 2011.
