PGA Sony Open Free Picks
HONOLULU, HI (TheSpread) – The 2015 PGA Sony Open gets underway on Thursday morning with a competitive field. Here are some golfers to consider wagering on.
According to oddsmakers from BetDSI, Jason Day is favored to win the tournament, as he has 12/1 odds. Other short odds are Jimmy Walker (16/1), Chris Kirk (18/1) and Matt Kuchar (18/1). The Sony Open will be held today-Sunday at Waialae Golf Course.
Jason Day is the favorite for a reason. He comes into the tournament eighth in the world rankings and he has finished seventh or better in his last five events and coming off a third-place finish in last week’s Tournament of Champions. Look for Day to be near the top again this weekend.
Jimmy Walker also can’t be ignored this week. He is the defending champion of this tournament and is playing great right now. He finished runner-up to Patrick Reed in a playoff last week and sitting 17th in the world rankings, making him one of the highest-ranked golfers in the field.
We pointed out Zach Johnson last week and he was right in the mix, placing seventh after leading at the midway point. We like Johnson again this week with 25/1 odds. He won this tournament back in 2008 and finished eighth last year. It’s a course he is clearly comfortable with and he has finished in the top 10 in his last two tournaments, which mean he is on his game. He could land you a big payday on Sunday.
