Johnson wins WGC event
DORAL, FL (TheSpread) – Dustin Johnson picked up arguably the biggest win of his career on Sunday, claiming a win in the stacked WGC-Cadillac Championship.
Johnson posted a 3-under 69 on Sunday, his second-consecutive 69 of the tournament to get to -9 for the tournament, which put him one shot ahead of J.B. Holmes for the victory. Johnson had just one bogey over the final round and played the final 11 holes 3-under par.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Johnson had 18/1 odds to win this tournament coming into the week, which means that a wager of $100 on him will pay an additional $1,800.
Holmes came into the final round at -11, but he shot a 3-over 75 on Sunday to finish alone in second at -8. Holmes struggled at the start, bogeying three of his first six holes. Bubba Watson, one of the favorites coming into the week, finished at -7 for the tournament and alone in third place after posting a 71 on Sunday.
