UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA (TheSpread) – Jordan Spieth is looking to win the first two majors of 2015 when he tees off in the U.S. Open tomorrow. Can Spieth make it happen?
According to the latest oddsmakers, Spieth has 8/1 odds to win the U.S. Open. He also has 12/1 odds to lead after the first round. His odds of being the top American in the field is at 9/2, while his odds of making the cut are set at -650, while his odds to miss the cut are listed at +400.
Spieth is currently second in the world rankings. He has had a great start to his 2015 season, as he has nine top 10s and seven top 5s. He has won two tournaments this year, including The Masters. Since the Masters, He has finished in the top 5 two more times and in the top 20 four times in six events.
Spieth is still relatively young to major championships, so it is hard to base too much of what to expect this week on his major history. This will be just his 10th major championship ever and fourth U.S. Open. In his three previous U.S. Open appearances, he finished 21st in 2012 as an amateur, missed the cut in 2013 as a pro and then finished 17th last year. Of the nine majors he has competed in, Spieth has been cut three times.
