WGC-Dell Match Play Predictions
Which golfer will navigate the rest of the field to win the WGC-Dell Match Play Championship? Here’s three golfers we think can contend for the title.
According to the latest oddsmakers at YouWager, Rory McIlroy is the favorite this week, as he is getting 15/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Dustin Johnson (8/1) and Justin Thomas (11/1). The WGC-Dell Match Play Championship takes place Wednesday-Sunday from Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas.
Bet on Golf Odds for Wednesday, March 21, 2018
6302 Dustin Johnson 8/1
DJ is the defending champion of this tournament and he has been on a tear for 2018 thus far. In five tournaments this year, he has four top-10 finishes with one victory. The worst showing he has had this year was 16th. Johnson has placed inside the top 20 in his last eight tournaments. The top-ranked golfer in the world has looked every bit the part and I think it will continue this weekend.
6304 Jason Day 14/1
Jason Day has won this tournament twice, last doing so in 2016. After a quiet 2017 season, Day has had a good start to his 2018. He has a victory and a runner-up finish out of three events. Dating back to last year, Day has finished in the top 25 in 12 straight events. I look for Day to continue his consistent run and make it past the tough opening rounds. From there, with a strong history of match play results, I think he can push for a third title.
6307 Paul Casey 20/1
Paul Casey has not won this event, but has finished second two times and reached the quarterfinals two other times. Casey comes in hot, having won the Valspar Championship in his last outing. He also has finished 12th or better in four of the five tournaments he has taken part in this year. Casey currently sits 13th in the world rankings and I expect him to continue his strong play this weekend.
