WGC-Dell Match Play Picks
The 2017 WGC-Dell Match Play event is set to take place starting tomorrow. Here are some golfers we like to contend.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Rory McIlroy is the favorite to win, as he is getting 13/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Dustin Johnson (9/1), Jordan Spieth (10/1) and Jason Day (14/1). This event is a 64-man match-play tournament featuring the top 64 players from the World Golf Rankings. It will take place Wednesday-Sunday from Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas.
Rory McIlroy has done really well in this event, winning in 2015 while placing second in 2012. He also is rolling along right now, placing in the top 10 in his last six events, including one victory. McIlroy looks like the top golfer in the world right now.
Dustin Johnson is actually No. 1 in the world rankings. He has won his last two tournament and has placed sixth or better in eight of his last 10 events, with three wins. While he hasn’t won the Match Play event before, this year seems to be his best opportunity.
Patrick Reed is listed with 33/1 odds. He hasn’t been playing all that great lately, finishing outside the top 20 in five straight events. However, he has been playing well in Match Play events. He made it to the round of 16 in last year’s event and is coming off a big Ryder Cup showing last summer. I think Reed will rise to the occasion this week and could lead you to a big payday.
