WGC-HSBC Champions Picks
The WGC-HSBC Champions will tee off early Thursday morning out East. Here are some golfers we like to contend for the victory.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Dustin Johnson is favored to win this week, as he has 15/2 odds. Other short odds to win are Hideki Matsuyama (10/1) while Jason Day, Jon Rahm and Marc Leishman each have 18/1 odds. The WGC-HSBC Champions takes place Thursday-Sunday from Sheshan International in Shanghai, China.
Dustin Johnson is a former winner of this event and is back to playing some really good golf in recent months. The top-ranked golfer in the world has finished in the top 20 in six of his last seven tournaments, including one win. For 2017, Johnson has posted four wins and nine top-10 finishes. I like him to have another big showing this weekend.
Marc Leishman is another golfer on a really nice run over recent months. He is coming off a runner-up finish last weekend in Asia and has finished in the top 3 in three of his last four tournaments. Leishman has also finished sixth or better in five of his last nine tournaments. For the year, he has posted two wins and seven top-10 finishes. I expect Leishman to continue his hot streak and push for the victory.
Matt Kuchar is listed with 40/1 odds for this weekend I think he has great value as a dark horse winner. Kuchar has made the cut in 18 straight tournaments, which always puts him in the mix to win. While it hasn’t resulted in a victory this year, he has 10 top-10 finishes in 2017, nine of which have come during this impressive run. Kuchar has the skills to win, he just needs a few extra shots to go his way this weekend. He’s become a coin flip to crack the top 10, which means he has great value to come through with a win at 40/1.
