Walker repeats as Sony Open champ
HONOLULU, HI (TheSpread) – Jimmy Walker dominated the field at the PGA Sony Open this weekend, winning the tournament by nine strokes to repeat as champion.
Walker shot an 8-under 62 on Saturday and then posted a 7-under 63 on Sunday to finish the tournament at -23 overall. Scott Piercy was the next closest, as he finished at -14 for the tournament after shooting a 66 on Sunday.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Walker came into this tournament with 16/1 odds to win, which means a wager of $100 on him to prevail will pay out an additional $1,600. We suggested betting on Walker prior to the start of this week, and he certainly didn’t disappoint.
Jason Day was the pre-tournament favorite and he ended up 17th on the weekend at -10 overall. Day shot a 68 on Sunday. Harris English, Gary Woodland and Matt Kuchar each tied for third this weekend at -13 for the tournament.
