Updated Masters Odds
AUGUSTA, GA (TheSpread) – The first round of the Masters Championship has concluded and Jordan Spieth made a big statement on Thursday.
The youngster from Texas posted an 8-under 64 on Thursday to establish a three-shot lead on the field. His 64 was just one shot shy of the all-time major record for lowest score in a round.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Spieth is now a 7/4 favorite to win the green jacket this weekend. The other short odds are Jason Day (5/1) and Rory McIlroy (10/1).
Day shot a 5-under 67 on Thursday to put himself in a tie for second with Charley Hoffman, Justin Rose and Ernie Els. Day had a real hot streak during his round, birding five straight holes on the back nine. Day is seeking his first major championship, as is Spieth.
McIlroy had a quiet opening round, posting just a 1-under 71. He did rally to get under par, as he struggled early and was 1-over at one point. McIlroy is tied for 18th right now and he is looking to complete the career grand slam this weekend while also winning his third straight major.
