Spieth now favored at The Open
FIFE, Scotland (TheSpread) – It was a wild day at the British Open on Saturday as many golfers made big moves while the leader surprisingly took a big step backwards.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Jordan Spieth is now a 9/4 favorite to win while Jason Day and Louis Oosthuizen now have 7/2 odds. Dustin Johnson, who was the favorite entering Sunday, now has 40/1 odds. The British Open concludes on Monday from St. Andrews.
Spieth posted a 66 on Sunday to put himself at -11 for the tournament. He is one shot out of the lead, which is currently held by amateur Paul Dunne, Louis Oosthuizen and Jason Day.
Day shot a 67 on Sunday to get into the mix for the lead while Oosthuizen also shot a 67. Dunne posted a 66 on Sunday and he has 12/1 odds to win tomorrow despite being an amateur. Johnson surprisingly shot a 3-over 75 on Sunday to fall to -7 for the tournament and five shots out of the lead.
The main focus for tomorrow’s round is on Spieth, as he looks to win the first three major championships of 2015, a very rare feat.
