Spieth, McIlroy meet up this week

Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy meet up this weekend when both headline the PGA Northern Trust Open.

According to oddsmkers from RealBets, Spieth and McIlroy are the co-favorites to win this event, as each is getting 13/2 odds to prevail. The other short odds are Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama, who each have 16/1 odds. The Northern Trust Open takes place Thursday-Sunday from Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades.

Neither Spieth or McIlroy have won this tournament. Spieth currently has the No. 1 ranking ahead of McIlroy, who is third. He has finished in the top 10 in seven of his last eight tournaments with two wins. McIlroy has finished in the top 6 in both tournaments this year and he ended 2015 with a win.

Matsuyama is 12th in the world rankings and coming off a win in the Phoenix Open a few weeks ago. He has finished in the top 5 in three of the last five tournaments he has completed. He was fourth in this tournament last year.

Johnson is eighth in the world rankings. He finished second in this tournament the last two years. He has finished 10th or worse in his last four outings, including all three tournaments of 2016.
