Spieth wins in a playoff
PALM HARBOR, FL (TheSpread) – Jordan Spieth picked up an emotional win on Sunday, as he claimed the victory in the PGA Valspar Championship in a playoff.
After shooting a 2-under 69 on Sunday, Spieth finished the tournament at -10, which put him in a tie with Patrick Reed and Sean O’Hair. The three played even on two playoff holes before Spieth birdied the par-3 17th to claim the victory.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Spieth had 14/1 odds to win this tournament coming into the week, which means a wager of $100 to prevail will pay out an additional $1,400.
Reed shot a 5-under 66 on Sunday, including a big putt on the final hole to get into the three-man playoff. O’Hair posted a 67 on Sunday to get to -10. Ryan Moore entered the day at -9, but shot a 1-over 72 on Sunday to finish at -8 for the tournament and in fifth place.
