PGA Championship Betting Prediction

OPTION 1: Rory McIlroy (+1300)

Half of McIlroy’s four career major wins have come at the PGA Championship. With his victory at Valhalla in 2014 representing his last major victory to date, McIlroy has logged 17 top-10 finishes, which is the most of any golfer over that span (2015). He tied for 8th in the 2019 PGA Championship and finished 8th in 2022. While he’s struggled to re-capture his winning formula at this event, he nevertheless won the PGA Championship twice in a three-year span. Year-after-year, McIlroy has put himself in contention atop the leaderboards in majors. Since 2009, McIlroy has produced at least one top-10 finish in 14 straight years. That is the longest streak by any player since all four majors became stroke-play events in 1958.

OPTION 2: Collin Morikawa (+3400)

Morikawa’s win at TPC Harding Park in 2020 was his first major win in just his second major start. He added to that victory with a win at The Open in 2021 and now the 26-year-old is looking to add a third major trophy to his collection. He would become the fourth player to win multiple PGA Championships at age 26 or younger, joining Tiger Woods, McIlroy and Gene Sarazen. This will be Morikawa’s 14th major start overall and if he were to win, he would tie Peter Thomson for the most major wins within a player’s first 14 starts since 1950. Over the last 40 years, Morikawa is tied for the most Major Top-10s within a players first 14 major starts, so he’s capable of achieving history this weekend.

OPTION 3: Jon Rahm (+850)

This will be the 28-year-old’s first career major start as the No. 1 player in the Official World Golf Ranking. Rahm ascended to World No. 1 after each of his two major wins and has spent sevral weeks atop the charts in his career. This will be the first time he enters a major atop the OWGR, however, and six players have won a major as the No. 1 player, which was forced in 1986. With wins in each of his first two starts of the calendar year, plus another at Riviera in The Gensis Invitational, Rahm has been incredible this season. He racked up his fourth win of the year at last month’s Masters Tournament and his four victories on the season are double the amount of any other player. This is all considering the fact that he didn’t play the weekend of The Players Championship, when he withdrew ahead of the second round due to illness. He has made the cut in 14 straight majors, which is the longest active streak of any player.
