CJ Cup Predictions
The 2019 PGA Tour makes tees off overseas early on Thursday for the start of the CJ Cup. Here’s a look at some of the golfers we like to contend for the win.
According to the latest oddsmakers, Justin Thomas is favored to win this tournament, as he has 11/2 odds to prevail. Other short odds to win are Brooks Koepka (9/1) and Jason Day (12/1). The CJ Cup takes place Thursday-Sunday from The Club at Nine Bridges in Jeju Do, South Korea
Justin Thomas 11/2
Thomas is the defending champion of this event, winning the tournament in its first year of existence. Thomas also comes in riding a pretty nice hot streak. He has finished in the top 25 in seven straight events, including five top-10 finishes and one win. He was fifth last week in the CIMB Classic and also had a very strong Ryder Cup. Thomas has two wins on the year.
Jason Day 12/1
Day isn’t finishing the 2018 season all that great, but he is still being competitive. Day has finished in the top 25 in seven of his last eight tournaments. He also has two wins on the year. Day placed 11th in this tournament a year ago and should be able to navigate this course with some success. In a field that isn’t overwhelming, I like Day to be a top finisher.
Marc Leishman 14/1
Leishman has done well overseas, finishing second to Thomas in this event last year and winning the CIMB Classic last week. Leishman hadn’t finished his run in the states very well, but flying overseas could be the spark he needed. He wrapped up his 2017 year by earning four top-5 finishes in his last six events. I think he can continue the momentum of last week’s win to another strong finish to his year in 2018.
