FedEx St. Jude Championship Outright Winner Betting Predictions
Option 1: Cameron Smith (16/1)
Smith has been rumored to be the latest subject of LIV Golf, but he pushed aside questions about LIV this week when he said that he was “here to play the FedExCup Playoffs.” Smith currently sits in second place in the FedEx Cup race ahead of this weekend’s St. Jude Championship from TPC Southwind, a spot where he has had success. He was T2 through 36 holes of the 2019 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational and was also T2 through 54 holes last year before eventually finishing with a share of fifth place. He’ll need a good showing this weekend if he wants to catch Scheffler for first place in the standings, so I expect him to play well.
Option 2: Tony Finau (22/1)
Seems obvious to take the guy that won this event last year, but Finau has won back-to-back events ahead of this week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship, so he’s in good form. He won THE NORTHERN TRUST last year at Liberty National to kick off the 2021 playoffs, which snapped a five-year winless streak for him and made him the defending champ for the event this week. He’s been on fire recently, winning the 3M Open and Rocket Mortgage Classic. While his overall track record isn’t great here, it’s hard to overlook one of the hottest golfers in the planet.
Option 3: Scottie Scheffler (15/1)
Scheffler currently ranks No. 1 in the FedEx standings and while he has some of the worst odds in terms of value, you would still take home $1,500 on a $100 play if he were to win another tournament this weekend. He has four wins in a two-month stretch starting back in February and is 3-for-4 with top-15s in his last two visits to TPC Southwind. There’s a high probability that he’ll be in the mix on Sunday.
